Profile of the Law Firm
PUGA ORTIZ was founded in the year 1925 by Mariano Puga Vega, an outstanding lawyer of Chilean and French courtrooms, who stamped his corporative and international vocation on the law firm from the very beginning, so that its portfolio of clients was made up fundamentally of foreign companies.
In the fifties, the law firm incorporated new members, which makes it the country’s largest association of professionals.
In the seventies, the firm improved its litigation department in such a way that it now stands among the best in the country in the field of business and economic penal litigation. The area of intellectual property was created and consolidated in that same decade, and the firm acquired a relevant participation in that field of expertise.
The eighties saw the creation of the departments specializing in insolvency law, restructurings and a strong development in mining law, thus definitely enlarging its services area, always with the same level of renowned excellence.
The firm has intensified its expansion, incorporating new partners with significant contributions in their fields of expertise in regulatory law, especially in the dynamic market of telecommunications, concessions, securities market law and foreign trade.
